Uneek Valentines Days Proposal Stories to Inspire
The most wonderful time of the year is so quickly followed by the most romantic time of the year. That’s right, it’s almost Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year! Many people around the world, and across the country, choose February 14 as the day they will pledge their undying love in a marriage proposal to their special someone. Have you been thinking of making it a Valentine’s Day to remember in 2017? Here are a few of our favorite Valentine’s Day proposal stories to inspire you!
Andrea and Matthew
“My boyfriend Matthew and I had been dating for just over 5 years. This past year, on Valentine’s Day he took me to dinner. The restaurant wasn’t particularly special for a Valentine’s Day date, but it was extremely comfortable because it was one of our regular favorite date night places. We enjoyed a fantastic meal there, and had the best time together, as always. I had no expectation of a proposal that night, but when the server brought dessert to our table, my plate was decorated with those classic Valentine’s conversation heart candies. I thought the candies were just part of the restaurant’s plan for their Valentine’s Day dessert menu, but smiled as I started reading each heart’s message aloud, “I Love You”, “Real Love”, “Marry Me”, “Say Yes” and “Soul Mates”. As I was reading, my boyfriend got down on one knee, presented me with a gorgeous diamond engagement ring, and popped the question with tears in his eyes, “Will you marry me?”
I couldn’t believe it! With great joy and tears in my eyes, I jumped up and kissed him and said, “Yes! Of course I’ll marry you!”
The whole restaurant was cheering and clapping, and when I looked around I suddenly saw that all of our closest friends and family had begun to stream into the room to celebrate with us, including my parents who had flown in from the other side of the world to be there for our engagement!”
Kristin and Jason
“Kristin had taken French classes in college and wanted to visit Paris one day. While we were dating I would often take her to French restaurants where we would talk and dream and plan our future dream vacation to the most romantic city in the world. Kristin and I knew we would eventually get married, shortly after we first met. It was practically love at first sight. I think Kristin probably thought that I would propose to her in Paris on our dream vacation but I couldn’t wait that long! After dating for 2 years, I decided that next Valentine’s Day, I would ask Kristin to be my wife. For months I planned out what I hoped would be the perfect proposal. I saved up and bought her the most beautiful vintage inspired diamond engagement ring. I researched private chefs and found one who had received his culinary training in France! I coordinated with him on the most spectacular three course French meal that I would have him cook for us in our apartment on Valentine’s Day. It was hard to keep everything a secret from Kristin, but somehow I managed to pull it off and the love of my life was completely surprised when she arrived home from work that day to find our apartment filled with roses and candles, and a chef! For almost a year I had secretly been learning to speak French, and during dessert I got down on one knee and in French told Kristin how much she means to me and asked her if she would marry me. She exclaimed, “When did you learn to speak French?” and then quickly wrapped her arms around me and said “Oui! Yes, I’ll marry you!” We’re set to marry in May of next year and will be honeymooning in Paris!”

Grace and Steven
“Steven and I have now been married for a year. We met in college but our careers took us to different parts of the country and we lost contact. We reconnected over social media a few years ago, and after months of long distance, we realized we had something really special. Coincidentally I received an amazing job offer and I was able to move back to L.A. to be with Steven. We knew we were meant to be together but hadn’t laid out a timeline for our future together. Steven told me to take a vacation day for Valentine’s Day the year he proposed, so I knew he had a fun day planned for us to spend together. The day was filled with all of my favorite things. Croissants and coffee for breakfast, tacos from our favorite Mexican spot for lunch, and then a drive out to our favorite beach to just sit and watch the waves. Steven had packed a picnic for us, and without me knowing, had enlisted the help of our best friends to set up a romantic and beautiful space for us at the beach. As we walked onto the sand, I spotted an area tucked away that had blankets laid out, surrounded by pretty flowers in vases of all shapes and sizes that were placed on wooden crates. There was even some of my favorite music playing on a portable Bluetooth speaker. I was in awe of how romantic this all was and how beautifully he had planned out the perfect Valentine’s Day for us! He led me over to the blankets and we sat together and watched the waves for a little while, sipping hot cocoa that he had brought along in a thermos. My heart was exploding. Steven took me by the hand and we stood up together with a blanket wrapped around us. I started to suspect that this day might have just become a day we would tell our grand kids about. Sure enough, Steven then got down on one knee, and pulled out a box from inside his pocket. Opening the little box towards me, Steven said, ‘Grace, you are the love of my life. Will you marry me?’ Crying tears of joy, I said ‘Yes!’ Steven got to his feet and kissed me, and then slipped the most stunning engagement ring onto my finger. Out of nowhere, our best friends appeared and champagne bottles were popped open. It was the best day ever! Our friends managed to capture the proposal on camera and we now have great photos of those special moments to treasure for a lifetime.”
