Picking the Best Halo for Your Center Diamond of Choice
No matter what diamond you choose, there is guaranteed to be a halo setting for it’s shape. Halos are a spectacular way to make any engagement ring look more dazzling and enhance the natural beauty of your center rock. If you want to make any cut look even more gorgeous, choose a halo that is perfect for it’s shape. Uneek Jewelry’s Founder and lead Designer, Benjamin Javaheri is sharing his tips for picking the best one. Trust us, his guide will have her saying, “you had me at halo”:
Princess Cut Diamond
The classic princess cut diamond is always a gorgeous choice. When you’re looking for a halo setting, a halo that is extremely square with sharp edges can look too geometric.
Instead, Benjamin says, “choose one with cut corners to accentuate the shape and beauty of the rock while giving it a gorgeous, soft look.” A setting like this Princess-Cut Diamond Halo Engagement Ring with Pave Double Shank from our Silhouette Collection will make a princess cut stand out.
However, if you’re looking to add a “unique accent, like rope milgrain edging, the straight square halo will be best suited for your center.”
Small Round Cut Diamond
“Small or regular-sized round cut diamonds (from 0.50 carats to 2.00 carats) look breathtaking in a cushion-shaped halo.” This halo engagement ring with pave set diamonds is one stunning option for an alluring cushion-shaped halo. If you are looking for a fuller, more romantic look, this bombé-style halo engagement ring from our Silhouette Collection (and featured in BRIDES magazine) is a wonderful choice.
Large Round Cut Diamond
If you are choosing a halo for a round cut center that is on the larger side (over 2.50 carats), “choose a halo with shared-prong-set diamonds,” like the one featured in this one-of-a-kind Round Diamond Halo Engagement Ring with Pave Double Shank from our Signature Collection. Shared-prong rounds give the halo a scallop-like effect that is captivating and that accentuates a large round center exquisitely.
Small Pink Diamond
A pink diamond is delicate, feminine, and absolutely gorgeous, especially when paired with the perfect halo. “Two-toned double halos accentuate the beauty of a pink diamond” marvelously. A “rose gold inner halo with pink rounds will make the center look a lot bigger than it actually is,” and a white outer halo with white diamonds adds to the dazzle. Any of these styles are perfect choices for a small pink center stone. (P.S., that pear-shaped version, pictured below, was featured in Martha Stewart Weddings a little while back.)
Cushion Cut Yellow Diamond
A yellow diamond with a cushion cut is charming and enticing. This lovely diamond looks breathtaking with a shared prong setting with white diamonds. The “scalloped look of the shared-prong halo looks magical together with the soft edges of a cushion cut diamond.” This enchanting Cushion-Cut Yellow Diamond Engagement Ring with Scalloped Halo and “Silhouette” Double Shank is the perfect example of this formula. Marquise Cut Diamond
If you want a classic setting with a marquise center that is placed north-south, a simple pave halo all around the diamond will be do. However, a marquis diamond with an east-west setting can be beguiling “with a bypass halo,” as exemplified by our East-West Marquise Diamond Bypass Engagement Ring with Halo. “This creates a stand-out look for your already brilliant—and already uniquely oriented—center diamond.”
